Unusual 747s

 

Pictured here is the Airborne Laser Test Bed (ALTB), also known as a 747 with a GIANT FRIKKIN’ LASER BEAM.  It was originally intended to shoot missiles out of the sky with its enormous laser (you can see the part where it comes out in the nose of the plane).  Unfortunately, the whole program was cancelled in February 2012 due to the concept being absolutely ridiculous.

 

And here is what it looks like when you have a giant frikkin laser beam right in your face:
